Merdeka.com – Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) akhirnya secara resmi menunjuk Muhammad Lutfi sebagai Menteri Perdagangan yang baru, menggantikan Gita Wirjawanyang resmi mengundurkan diri akhir Januari 2014. Saat mengumumkan penunjukan Lutfi,  SBY punya pesan khusus.

“Saya beri perhatian khusus agar Mendag melakukan diplomasi efektif agar Indonesia tidak mengalami perdagangan yang tidak fair terutama perdagangan kelapa sawit,” ujar Presiden SBY di Istana Negara, Jakarta, Rabu (12/2).

Tidak itu saja, Lutfi juga diminta ikut aktif menjaga kondisi perekonomian nasional yang tengah mengalami gangguan akibat belum pulihnya perekonomian global. Salah satu yang harus diperhatikan adalah kondisi neraca perdagangan yang masih defisit.

“Harus berusaha sekuat tenaga ekspor kita kalau bisa menemukan pasar baru. Juga tugas Mendag dalam kerja sama G20 atau kerja sama ASEAN, APEC,” kata SBY.

Yang tidak boleh dilupakan, tugas utama Menteri Perdagangan menjaga stabilitas harga di dalam negeri. “Prioritas sebagai Mendag aktif berupaya melakukan stabilisasi harga di dalam negeri. Ini penting dan itu salah satu domain mendag,” tegas kepala negara.

Sebelumnya, Presiden SBY mengaku telah melakukan fit and proper test pada mantan duta besar RI di Jepang, Muhammad Lutfi. Menurut SBY, Luthfi bukan orang baru dan telah berpartisipasi sekaligus memberi kontribusi nyata. Salah satunya saat menjadi kepala Badan Koordinasi Penanaman Modal.

Saat itu, kata presiden, Lutfi berhasil mengemban tugas menarik investasi di masa-masa ekonomi Indonesia tengah mengalami kesulitan.

“Dorong perekonomian Indonesia. Ekonomi bisa bertahan, pertumbuhan positif dan tinggi. Setelah itu jadi duta besar RI di Jepang, mitra strategis, perdagangan makin maju,” kata  SBY.

Dengan pertimbangan itu SBY melihat sosok M. Lutfi sebagai orang yang cocok menggantikan Gita Wirjawan. “Atas pengalaman dan penugasan berkaitan dengan ekonomi, investasi dan perdagangan dan setelah fit and proper test 2 hari lalu. Saya pandang Lutfi pantas dan tepat gantikan Gita Wirjawan,” tegas Presiden.

M. Luthfi akan dilantik besok, Jumat (13/2). Setelah itu, Gita Wirjawan secara resmi akan melakukan serah terima jabatan kepada Lutfi.
